Chris,

Look at it as a training exercise for future setups. All of us had to go
through a lot of installs until we got it right. So don't feel bad about it.
I always give a static IP to both NICs after the server portion has finished
and before I continue with the rest of the SBS setup. So I can't answer your
question if not assigning the IP would trigger your error.

Maybe I'm just not making myself clear here. I haven't even finished the
install on my new server. I am running the 'Continue Setup' script that is
on
my desktop once SBS reboots for the first time. I have to cancel the setup
once it restarts for the first time so I can add my other 2 partions that
will house data and exchange and configure other devices in Device
Manager.
This DHCP message is popping up before setup even finishes. So there is NO
dhcp configured on the server yet AT ALL. I suppose the first thing I will
try is to rebuild AGAIN(for the 5th time) and give both nics their ips. I
am
building using instructions from smallbizserver.net and it says to ONLY
configure the LAN nic. Perhaps the added step of the Dell CD is causing
some
issues though.

The 1394 connection and the INET nic are disabled while I run the

Any way for me to tell WHERE setup is seeing another dhcp server? or

A serial port modem wouldnt be seen as an ip device would it? Im
pulling
straws here!

The INET nic does not show up in the ipconfig because I disabled
everything
but the LAN nic. And like I also stated previously there is only one
eth
cable plugged into my server and into my switch; the one connected to
the
LAN
nic.

150% stumped and getting frustrated! :)
