RE: Monitoring error Event ID: 4104

Hello Steven

I tried, but no success.

1. Patch downloaded and decompressed to C:
2. In CMD window under C:\SQLSP4\MSDE I ran

Setup /upgradesp sqlrun BLANKSAPWD=1 INSTANCENAME=SBSMonitoring
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=1 /L*v "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs\Monitoring_MSDE.Log"
REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn
Nothing happens. No error messages or anything.

3. I tried again with installing Monitoring features - same error.
4. When I run Setup.exe only under C:\SQLSP4\MSDE, it says " A strong
password is required for security reasons. Please use SAPWD to supply the
same. .... Setup will now exit."
5. Next, I tried only setup /SAPWD and help with options screen came up.
Nothing else.

Am I doing something wrong???

Please follow the steps below to install SQL MSDE 2000 SP4.

1. Download the package:

SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU

2. Double click the package and specify a folder for it to extract files
(such as C:\SQLSP4).
3. Open MCD prompt and go to C:\SQLSP4\MSDE.
4. Run the following command to start setup:

Setup /upgradesp sqlrun BLANKSAPWD=1 INSTANCENAME=SBSMonitoring
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=1 /L*v "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs\Monitoring_MSDE.Log"
REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn

5. After the setup, please check whether the problem persists.
