Re: 'does not match the existing scope' error at install!!

There is a wireless router on-site that has a dhcp server, but the SBS2k3
server has no wireless nic. I am not plugged into our network yet. As I said,
there is only 1 eth cable cable plugged into this 2 nic server; ie the one
that I want to control DHCP on my network. It is plugged into a Dell
Powerconnect 24 port switch and is also the ONLY thing plugged into this
switch while I install SBS2k3R2.

Any other ideas? If setup will not install the DHCP server because of this
conflict then I definitely will stop and rebuild again from scratch if need
be. Although this is the 2nd time Ive have rebuilt already.

Im stumped!

Thanks,

Chris

This is brand new install on a clean server.

After completeing the preliminary steps (Adding new data partitions,
etc), I start the 'Continue Setup' script on the desktop. After
giving it my desired lan ip address, 10.10.1.1 and clicking next this
dialog box pops up:

"The IP address specified for the local network adapter does not
match the existing scope on your DHCP server, which may result in the
scope becoming unusable. This may result in client connectivity
issues. It is recommended that you use an IP address that is within
the range of the existing DHCP scope."
OK or Cancel

The lan is the only thing that's plugged into my switch. No other eth
cables are attached to the switch or my server.

I am not sure how to proceed or if this is a normal error....

Help plz!

Thanks,

Chris

So you don't have a router/firewall/anything that might have a DHCP server
on it, on this network at the time? At all? Not even your ISP's
router/modem? I find this hard to believe....before you proceed, go to a
command prompt and type ipconfig /all to see. If you don't, well, go ahead
and proceed....but note that DHCP server won't even be installed if it
detects another working DHCP server on the network.
