Re: Just installed 2 more Gigs of RAM and SBS only shows 3.25 out of 4 Gigs total

OK so the official answer from Dell is that just like on cheap motherboards
they are doing shared memory. So approx 500 megs of RAM is being allocated
to internal systems.

Nice..... :-(

Thanks Allan.

I will call Dell and see what I find out.

Most motherboards will not allow the entire 4GB to be used as they use a
lot of the upper memory for peripherals, etc. It has to do with the MB
chipsets, 32 bit OS, etc. - check the MB manual.

You may want to read the "RAM limits" post from the 17th as well.

I am running a Dell 1800 with 2 gigs of RAM. I added 2 more last night
and the SBS2k3 only shows 3.25 gigs now. I checked the BIOS and it shows
4 gigs. I also ran a Belarc just for kicks and it shows all 4 sticks.

I thought that perhaps I had modified the boot.ini with the /3 gig
switch but I did not.

Any ideas?

Thanks

John
