Ok, I tried everything per the instructions below and was still unable to
connect to: http://servername/connectcomputer
Please help!
When I try connecting using the "Network ID" wizard, it says it found the
account for the computer, but then I get another error:
A domain controler for the domain THOMASON could not be contacted. Ensure
that the domain name is typed correctly.
If the name is correct, click Details for troubleshooting information.
The domain name THOMASON might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the
case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.
If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the
following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
THOMASON:
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.THOMASON
Common causes of this error include the following:
- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.
- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child
zone:
THOMASON
.. (the root zone)

Can someone please help with this error window? I am trying to join
an XP Pro PC to the domain and get this error window when I change
its settings from logging onto a WORGROUP to logging onto the DOMAIN.

Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the
following error has occurred:
The format of the specified network name is invalid.
(OK button)
1. Don't use this method
2. Make sure your workstation's IP config specifies *only* the SBS
server's LAN IP for DNS - no external addresses.
3. Create a computer account on the server in the Server Management
console
4. On the client, use http://servername/connectcomputer
.
