They don't support it because it doesn't fit the installation script
they've written. I'd love to run it on MS SQL (or even MSDE) instead
(I believe that's supported on SBS ;-)). But that's even further from
ADP's supported configuration.

The data is currently on a workstation - and that's no place for a
multi-user database ;-).

Definitely!

I could put it on a w2k3 TS box, but that's
no place for it either.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

I've had success with numerous SQL flavours on SBS, this is just
another one of them - albeit one I've not tackled before.

What about virtual server/vmware?

In my experience, ADP isn't the devil, but they have more than a passing
acquaintance with him.

Are there any amongst us who use ADP PC/Payroll, and have the data
on their SBS server?

The database is SQLBase 7.5.1, and ADP supports the installation on
W2k3 server, but not on a DC. The ADP installer bombs, because of
permissions issues.

I'm fairly sure this can be quite easily worked around, but will
have to be done outside the scripted installation so appropriate
security/permissions can be set for the SQLBase app. Unfortunately,
ADP isn't much help.
Perhaps someone else has already determined the steps to get it
running?

If ADP won't support this, don't do it, plain and simple. Isn't your
payroll important enough that it should be reliable - and shouldn't
you be able to get ADP to help you out if it isn't working properly?
