You could have used Outlook from his workstation to do the import as
Maxibo suggested. You took the long way.

Actually, exmerge is better than Outlook for this - it won't import corrupt
data. You don't want to do imports in Outlook; Exchange or no. It frequently
corrupts data - I've seen this happen a lot, and pretty much all the Outlook
gurus I know concur on this point.

If you have to do this work at the client for any reason, you should open
the PST and select what you wish and copy it into the correct folders in the
mailbox.

That said, it's best to set up a specific AD account, with the correct
permissions, for the exmerge to run - wouldn't let a user account log into
the server at all, even temporarily.

Maxibo,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have managed to get the information
imported into his mailbox in Exchange. What I did to accomplish this
was to log into
the server using his account (after I made him an administrator) and
ran the
Exmerge program which then allowed the transaction to happen.

Thanks for your response.

Lets get the user email back so can get up and running then look at
this. Import the pst direct into users outlook when user logged in

Hello,

I am trying to restore some email messages from a backup. I have
managed
to
mount the recovery storage group store and export the mail into a
.pst file.
The problem I am now having is trying to import the messages into
the Exchange mailbox store from the .pst file using Exmerge.

I have verified that the Microsoft Exchange Information Store
service is
running but I am not sure how to check if I have the correct
permissions
to
log on (error code(0x8004011d)).

This is a copy of the log file relevant to the transaction.

Thanks for your help.

Peter
