Kevin,
I am emailing StorageCraft in a few minutes (my server is down while trying
to do the ShadowProtect thing).
Yes, I tried just booting normally, and with the "Start ShadowProtect with
additional drivers" choice in the ShadowProtect program (found in the
version with the new service pack). That is not the exact wording, but the
service pack version has a second choice now.
The first three times I booted, the Siig controller was not visible. This
last time, it was visible, even without loading its specific drivers. Go
figure!
The restore is in progress right now. What I am testing is going from a
single SATA disk on the Siig controller to a RAID1 on the Adaptec. I
installed the Adaptec controller and drivers in Windows first so that the
drivers would be there when it tries to boot. I see no reason for it not to
reboot properly on the SATA RAID1 on the Adaptec controller, but we shall
see if it works as planned.
I had the same experience with Dell PE 2800 a while back. It saw its drives
without F6 needed.

Gregg, the F6 option is not an SBS "thing" but a Windows "thing".
Yes, when you press F6 from Windows, you get an ability to install more
than one diskette. I have used ShadowProtect to also do the F6 thing, but
only with a single diskette. Again, I believe that that is a Windows
thing. If it is not letting you add a second driver diskette, then contact
Storagecraft tech support. They are super responsive.
But let me ask you this, have you tried booting up Shadowprotect without
doing the F6? I have a server with SCSI Raid that I was expecting to do an
F6, but I didn't press it in time, and lo and behold, it came up and saw
my drives anyway.

Hello!
I have a generic question regarding the "Hit F6 to install additional
adapter drivers" that one sees when first installing Windows. I am using
an application from StorageCraft called ShadowProtect which starts up off
of a bootable CD and starts a GUI interface (it looks like a normal
Windows boot when it first starts). When it first boots, it says to hit
F6 to load additional drivers. I have two adapters, a Siig SATA adapter,
and an Adaptec 1420SA SATA RAID controller. I can only load the drivers
for one or the other of these adapters using F6, but not both. Once I
load one (either one), if I hit "S" again, it keeps trying to load the
one that is already loaded and does not give the chance to load another
driver.
Is this the same behavior I would see when actually loading SBS, or does
SBS let you use F6 to load more than one set of drivers for multiple
adapters?
I am wondering if this behavior is limited to the ShadowProtect
application or if it is a Windows thing.
Any help is appreciated!
Gregg Hill
