Re: Many Exchange errors!

I wouldn't either. I keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks!

I did the integrity test with eseutil, and it was succesful.
The exchange errors don't seem to come back, it's already 14 hours ago
since the last errors :-)
Backup is working fine too for the moment (the last 3 daily backups all
crashed, I forgot to mention that)

If the errors would come back this week, I'll do the offline defrag and
repair in the weekend when I have more time...
I don't like to mess around with exchange during the week, if something
goes wrong......

Greets,
Vincent

5GB shouldn't take that long - maybe 30 min if that. I would stay away
from the backup time. But don't worry too much because your store will be
off line during the defrag. Do make a quick backup before you start this.

How long does it take to defrag a store of 5 gb?
What happens if backup starts when defrag is still buzy?
Could this cause any problems?

sounds good. post back afterwards.

Hi Claus,

I'll try the defrag & repair later this evening. Thanks for the link!

The disk where the stores are has 30 gb left, so that should not be
the problem...

Vincent

Don,

Before you call MS, try to do a repair and and offline defrag. I
would first try an offline defrag and if that doesn't fix it do a
repair. After the repair you have to run another defrag.

Also, how much space is left on the disk where your stores are? How
big are your stores?

Checkdisk returned no errors on both partitions...

I would scan all partitons with checkdisk and both boxes checked.
Sometimes databases can get so goofed up that Microsoft will ask
you
to restore from a good backup.

I don't know what happened. I didn't install anything, or didn't
make any
changes.

- C: drive has enough space left (over 5 gb)
- Exchsrvr and mdbdata directory are excluded from the anti-virus
software
- After the first bunch of errors yesterday at 17h45 I rebooted the
whole
server. Today the same erros came back today at 10h45.
- The server is SBS 2003 sp1, with all updates installed...
- Are there any (special) on the exchange directories I could
check? SYSTEM
has full control to Exchsrvr and mdbdata.

I don't know where to look at. Anyone can help?

Thanks!

Regards,
Vincent
