Re: server 2003 standard domain user local rights

If you already had joined it to the domain manually there still would have
been domain user accounts available and I thought you said there were none.
So you've had it in the domain manually, tried dcpromo, taken it out, and
now using the SBS wizards. I'm not sure if there are any complications
introduced by doing all of that. Perhaps an MS person or one of the MVPs
will see this thread and give some input/advice.

OK...that at least let me install programs, however, it did not set the
static ip address like it asked me in the setup wizard, nor do I see where

has created a user account locally and given it any type of permissions.

did all this? I had already had this computer joined to the domain and

to take it out of the domain to complete the setup server wizard, but the
wizard looks like that's all it does is join the computer to the domain
with
a computer account and forces a name on it.

why would one way of joining not work, but the other would. and if it did
add the domain user with local rights to be able to install programs,
where
are the settings for it. like i said....i'm dazzed and confused right
now.
if you could be so kind as to ellaborate on the subject i would greatly
appreciate it.

I'm not quite sure how that's supposed to work....when I use the
Configure
Your Server Wizard to add the Domain Controller role, select Additional
domain controller for an existing domain, it then takes me to the
screen
where it asks for the network credentials. I type in the domain
Administrator account and password, the domain is already filled in
with
"DI-COMM.local" and click next. It gives me an error:

- The DNS SRV records required to locate a domain controller for the

DNS servers with following IP addresses:

4.2.2.2
192.168.254.1

- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its
child
zone:

DI-COMM.local

I'm not exactly sure what this is supposed to mean, but I've also tried
using just DI-COMM as the domain name instead of DI-COMM.local and got
the
same error.

i have a sbs 2003 server acting as PDC and have another server that

get standard server 2003 and put it on there (due to intel's
compatibility

adds local users, not domain users, therefore, inorder to do much of
anything
on the standard 2003, i have to login with local administrative
account,
or
constantly use the "run as" under the domain account, which really
doesn't
seem like it is being added to the server when i log in with the
domain
account, because it will take forever to load and create the profile
and
everything.
