I have one server running SBS 2003. I plan to add another server on
the same network (and domain if possible) running Windows Server 2003
(not SBS). The new Windows Server will run terminal services for 10
-20 users. The data is located on the SBS server. The SBS server
will also handle ALL email via exchange, and will provide access to
all printers. Is this possible with domain restrictions in SBS 2003?
It sounds perfect.
I also plan to setup the terminal server user accounts on the SBS
server.
You will also need to install the TS licensing service on your SBS box and
install the CALs.
Will the Windows 2003 Server be able to work with these
accounts, or will it need to have it's own set of user accounts?
Make it a member server in the domain, and you will have only one set of
logins to worry about.
Again, I'm only adding this new Win 2003 server to support Terminal
Services because I understand that SBS cannot go past the limit of
two terminal service accounts for the admin. Plus, I'm afraid it may
be too much for the SBS server. My concern is that the terminal
server will not be able to join the SBS domain and access all of the
resources on the SBS server. Any comments or suggestions are
appreciated.
It should join it just fine. You might create the server's computer account
in Server Management - and then run /connectcomputer on the server, to join
the domain that way.
