At what point did I tell you my customer had port 80 open or ran a public
web site? I must be missing something or you have me confused with someone
else.
I appreciate you help though :-)

I was not referring to RPC over HTTP in my "public web server on SBS"
comment. I was referring to running a public web site with port 80 on an
SBS box. Even a non-profit can afford ten bucks a month for web hosting.

It's all going now. A few of the SBS components configure differently
that a non-SBS server. For example, on my company system (non SBS), we
have the NetBios name of the server, not the FQDN. Also, we do not have
mutual SSL authenication checked off.
Greg, concerning your comments "public web server on SBS", sometimes with
have to put the technical savy aside and look at the business model. In
this case, we are dealing with a non-profit agency with no budget for
tunnels, and remote users of the agency who's immediate problem can be
resolved through the use of RPC over HTTP. We are not gods but we can
get a 'feel' for the situation and come up withthe best overall solution
given what we have to work with.
Thanks for all the help. It's great to have newsgroups like this!

We get so used to the wizards that we sometimes forget the manual

It's not really a wizard issue. I've just never set up RPC over HTTP
access to a non-SBS box yet - so although I've read about it I wasn't
thinking about it thoroughly :)

When you do it on a non-SBS Exchange server, you have to configure
all that stuff manually in the registry.
Ah yes. I was confused - thought he was talking about doing this in
the firewall. Thanks!

I am pulling my brains out getting RPC over HTTP/S working on an
SBS 2003 SP1 network. I have covered all my bases, double
checked every component, but I continue to get the message
'Exchange Server is unavailable'
My office has Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003 and I had no
problems getting RPC over HTTP/S working. I was wondering if
there were any special security considerations inherent with SBS
that might be hindering the process?
The certificate works, I can go to https://mail.mydomain.com/rpc
and accept the certificate
Did you install it wen prompted?
and get a 401.3 ACL error. OWA access works
fine using the same credentials. The ports (6110 - 6002, 6004)
have all been changed.
Why are you mentioning those ports? All you need inbound is 443.
Any ideas?
