Re: Anti Virus

Wrong. The version that comes with the Exchange part is called the Groupware
edition.

I was not talking about Symantec 10.1 Corporate for Workstations and
Servers. I was talking about Symantec Corporate v10.1 Edition which you are
wrong about. It does come with SMSMSE and you only have to renew the
licenses each year. And as far as too much work it's a piece of cake if you
know what your doing. I never do any maintenance on it. It auto updates the
definitions each day.

You've missed something on the Symantec Corporate v10.1. It does come
with
Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange v4.6. What you do have to
pay
extra for is for the Exchange portion is SPAM filtering which you do not
need to use. Simply use IMF. This is my setup and I have no complaints.
Never had a virus outbreak an am 99.9999% SPAM free.

Symantec 10.1 Corporate for Workstations and Servers does NOT include
SMSE.

There is a Bundle product, that has to be renewed each year, that
includes a desktop client and a version of SMSE that is bundled with it.

SC4WS has several engines that include the ability to scan an exchange
session between the client and the exchange server, but it does not
protect the exchange store itself, only the locally cached client part.

SMSE is almost worthless - to much work, to much management, to much
cost. We've moved everyone to GFI Mail Security and Essentials and never
been happier, less spam, better reporting, better attachment control,
lower resource hogging, and it includes 3 active email scanners that
scan before email hits the store.
