Check your event logs.

Hello,

I am running a SBS2003 server I am at 73 of 75 users now...but thats
another problem.

One of the users is running fine on a Windows 2000 workstation logs
in and out no problem and at a resonable speed. I just rebuilt a
machine (P4 1.8GHz 1GB w/40GB drive) all setup with XP and ran all
the windows updates. I joined the domain and set his user name to
have local admin rights on the PC. When I reboot and try to log in
as him it hangs, loading personal settings.

When I log in as this user on any windows 2000 workstation on the
domain it goes no problem. If I log in to an XP workstation it
hangs. If I disconnect the network cable on a XP workstation it
logs in no problem.

I disjoined and rejoined the domain. I ran netdiag on the new
workstation it all looked ok only warnings were about Wins. I ran a
gpupdate /sync with a reboot, and the user still hangs on login.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using roaming profiles?
If so, you have to be very careful with them.....and note that they
aren't compatible between OS versions. Don't use them if you don't
have nearly identical workstations.
