Thanks Owen, and do you know if software RAID 1 still works if the
drive has two partitions? It is also an SC430.

As Steve said, the best option is to use hardware Raid, but I've found for
very small installations (2-4 client workstations), software Raid 1 works
just fine. Search Microsoft.com for article #323432 to find out how to set
it up. The key is converting the disks to dynamic volumes in order to create
the mirror.
I'll second this opinion. While a hardware RAID card is usually
preferable, I have one very small (4 workstation) non-profit (i.e.,
cost-sensitive) client with a Dell SC430 using software RAID 1. It has
been working flawlessly for about 10 months now. The performance is
quite acceptable and I have successfully tested booting from both
drives.
