Re: Software RAID 1

As Steve said, the best option is to use hardware Raid, but I've found for
very small installations (2-4 client workstations), software Raid 1 works
just fine. Search Microsoft.com for article #323432 to find out how to set
it up. The key is converting the disks to dynamic volumes in order to create
the mirror.

I'll second this opinion. While a hardware RAID card is usually
preferable, I have one very small (4 workstation) non-profit (i.e.,
cost-sensitive) client with a Dell SC430 using software RAID 1. It has
been working flawlessly for about 10 months now. The performance is
quite acceptable and I have successfully tested booting from both
drives.
