Re: Access Problems

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

If it were me I would uninstall ISA. I would run the Connect to the
Internet wizard. I would reboot and then install ISA 2004. I had a
server yesterday that would not set the firewall when running the
wizard so that is what I did.

Hi All - I've been having an issue with both remote access to my SBS2003 box.
This manifests itself in two ways:- 1) Clients on the LAN are not assigned IP
addresses (DHCP claims to be up and running - no error messages in Event
Viewer etc)
2) remote clients cannot establish a VPN using either Connection Manager or
setting up a VPN from XP - Again absolutly no error messages on the Server.
As far as I can tell the Server thinks that it is running OK. Clients can use
RWW!
The solution to this is to run CEICW and always select Enable Firewall. Now
this is the strange part as the Wizard progresses it says that it has
detected ISA Server on the system, but that the ISA services are not running!
The Wizard continues and sets everything up and all works well for a few
hours (can be anything from 1 to 24) then I need to run CEICW again!!! - I
note that there are a number of people with threads on a similiar issue.
This all seemed to start when I applied SP1 to the system. I haven't changed
from ISA 2000 to 2004 yet.
The System is a SBS 2003 premiun with 2 NIC.

I'm not sure if this is an ISA issue or something else, but it did start
immediatly post SP1 so I guess it's related to that.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
