Dear Crina,
Thanks for your detailed response to my question. I have tried to implement
the steps you outlined, and this did not solve my problem. I tried to
eliminate SBS as an issue and connected a pc directly to the router on the
ISP connection. I am still umable to connect to this website. I am
contacting the ISP to solve the problem.
Thanks,
Duncan Pope

Hi Duncan,.
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand the issue to be: you can not access a
particular web site from SBS 2003 network. If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
As I know, you can try to turn off EDNS0 functionality on the SBS 2003
server. To do so, at the command prompt, type:
"dnscmd <SBS 2003 Server Name>/Config /EnableEDnsProbes 0" (without the
quotation marks), and press Enter.
Then check again to see if the issue is resolved.

828263 DNS query responses do not travel through a firewall in Windows
Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;828263
Also please check the network configuration on SBS network:
For 2 NICs on SBS:
On SBS server:
External NIC:
IP: assigned by your ISP or your hardware router
Gateway: your ISP or your Hardware router IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
Internal NIC:
IP: Fixed IP
Gateway: None
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
In the DNS console (dnsmgmt.msc), right click your ServerName and click
properties. In the Forwarders tab, your ISP DNS server IP should be
inputted there.
On workstation inside your SBS local subnet
IP: Assigned by DHCP on SBS
Gateway: SBS internal NIC IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
If the problem still occurs, in order to narrow down the problem, please
help me collect the following information:
1. Does the situation only occur on one website?
2. Do you access the web site from SBS or internal clients?

|
| I was pulling my hair out with this too. I resolved mine by setting
|
|
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\EnablePMTUDiscovery
| to 1 and then rebooting.
|
| ISA changes the registry entry for EnablePMTUDiscovery to 0 on W2K3, for
| greater hardening of the TCPIP stack. When this is set to zero, it sets
ISAs
| MTU 576 instead of negotiating.
|
|
| My system already had this set to 1. I have tried to change the IE http:

| Does anyone have any idea how to figure this out?

| Thanks.
