The SSM was unpopulated after installing SBS2k3 w/intranet. When installing
a full instance of SQL2000, the install applet sees SBSMONITORING &
SHAREPOINT but the SQL Server Service Manager is still blank. It doesn't
list anything in the server field or the services field either. The icon in
the tray shows a blank white circle where the green arrow or the red square
should appear.
Did the SBS install fail somehow?
Should I dump it and start fresh?
This is fairly common - it just means the Service Manager hasn't been configured. Personally, I think this applet is a complete waste of space anyway, and I always remove it from the Startup group, and close it down from the tray.
