Re: Remote Email Failover

POP3 has it's own problems, not receiving BCCs, receive mail only once per
15 minutes.
Here in europe all providers offer bSMTP (batched SMTP) for about
$15/year/domain. That will hold all incoming mail until your server comes
back online.

What about using the hosting company as the backup and switch over to pop3
connectors?

I think easydns has mail spooling or I think it is correctly called
"eTurn" where they hold your mail for you until your exchange server comes
back online.

Hi all

I have a client with very intermittent Internet connectivity who
refuses to switch to a hosted exchange solution to solve their email
problems occurring while their connection is down.

They will consider an off-site backup solution however. I could easily
do this using a second SBS box set to collect and forward their emails
when their connection comes back up but is it possible to some how use
IIS 5.1? The client has a semi static ip address at home running XP
Pro that he leaves on and I would love to use this box.

If IIS 5.1 wont work would IIS 6? Are there any free/cheap programs I
could install on a separate box? It would all need to be as automatic
as possible (ie: collect the email while the main server is down and
forward as soon as the server is back up)

If not does any one have any cheap virtual options? The client has two
domains.

Thanks in advance
Gary
