Yes that's what I recall from 10 years in the past of setting up ISDN. The
other possibility is IDSL which runs over a single ISDN type copper pair
(Covad offers that type of service) which gives a speed of 144-not sure what
the distance limitations are on that but I do have 1 client using it.

It's an idea. We're at the end of a gravel road, 1.5 miles from the paved
road. Our land lines are okay and, I guess, would support ISDN. If I
remember right, I'd need two dedicated lines to handle 128-bit ISDN,
right? That could be a problem if there aren't any spare lines at the
terminal.

How about old fashioned ISDN? Its slow but might be more reliable than
satellite. Check with your phone company to see if its available (unless
you don't have any landline phone service at all in your location).

Yes, we're in a very rural area. Too far for DSL or other landline
options, even wireless isn't an option - we're just outside all the
service radius circles.

The staff have complained that they have a hrad time getting into OWA
and RWW, that they get "page cannot be displayed" a lot. I tried it
this week end from home and got it a few times myself, then was able
to get in on Saturday night. I suspect the problem is the latency of
the satellite connection. I had my son try it from college and he
couldn't get in; he did a traceroute and it stopped somewhere on the
way to the ISP. So it could have been his connection - the path from
his PC to our server. What steps can I take on my end to mitigate
this?

Your suspicion re the satellite latency is probably right on the money.
Is that your only connectivity option for this network?
