I have a setup where we use both a DSL and cable connection as well.
We use the DSL to provide us our static IP addresses while the cable
connection is dynamic.
I would recommend doing yourself a favor and purchasing the Netgear
FVS124G Dual WAN Gigabit Firewall. I got mine for roughly $200. As
the name suggests it handles both a DSL and Cable connection at the
same time in one of two modes; a) Automatic failover, or b) Load
Balancing.
What I did was plugged my DSL router into WAN1, and the Cable into WAN2
on the Netgear firewall. Then I have a 2 NIC config on my SBS2003
server as added protection. I plug the SBS2003 Server into the Netgear
Firewall and I forward all appropriate ports from Firewall to SBS. I
run in the Load Balancing mode which, in theory, simply takes requests
and splits them between a particular connection.
The key part is that you can bind specific requests to specific WAN
connections. So I can ensure my SMTP traffic always goes out my DSL
where I have a static IP (thus ensuring proper reverse lookups on those
connections), and I can bind DNS or any other protocol to a specific
WAN port.
It's worth the little money and it has been rock solid and is an added
level of security.

The cable modem already has a router, so I don't need one there. I
would need one for the DSL modem, though, which is fine.
So...here's what I'm thinking of doing:
1) Close all ports on the cable router (since it's not being used for
anything other than web browsing and basic connectivity anyway).
2) Open up whichever ports on the DSL router need to be opened to get
CRM and Exchange Server to work (I don't really know what those are, so
if anyone could help out that way, that'd be great...although I could
find this for myself.)
3) Configure the server to accept traffic from the DSL modem
only...although I'm not 100% sure how to do that either.
Is this logical? And if it is, what would I need to configure on the
SBS to get it to work? The router's not a big deal...just open up
ports or if worse comes to absolute worst create a DMZ for the server
and away we go. But the SBS would be the part that would throw me.
