Re: Fax Problem

Thanks...

I have updated the modem drivers and also untangled the phone line from the server power cords (in case this was causing line noise). In the process of applying some additional patches to the server, it was restarted. Preliminary results show everything working as expected. We haven't had a dropped fax for two days now. The only problem is that I don't know which one fixed the problem. I'll post back if anything changes...

Hi,

Thank you for posting back.

First I'm sorry for my delayed response due to weekend, in this period I'm limited to access email, sorry about it. Please note that the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to answer your non-urgent, break/fix systems and applications questions. Our goal is to provide 24 hour response to all questions.

I'd like to involve the vender tech support, since they should have the first hand info. In addition, With incompatible device we cannot guarantee the service will work as expect. I would suggest use additional modem which is on the Server Catalog list to make sure this is not a hardware problem. I would like you to try this modem on other SBS computers to confirm this is not a hardware issue.

Please contact the vender to obtain the latest modem driver.

| | 1. The problem has existed since we started using the Fax Service but | it was rare. It now happens more often.
| 2. DSL is now sharing the line.
| 3. SBS 2003 SP0 with all updates applied except SP1.
| | I will have to look into trying other hardware. I will try reinstalling | Fax Services to see if that helps also.
| | The modem is a Dell factory installed Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVc Modem. | I'll check out their site for any driver updates or known issues.
| | Thank you again.
