RE: Microsoft Outlook cached mode stays in offline

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi,

Thank you for posting here.

From you post, I understand during exchange server restart, some client
indicates offline. If I have misunderstood your question, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

Based on my test, when clients are using cache mode, shut down the exchange
server, outlook clients just change the state from connected to
disconnected. I can not reproduce the issue you mentioned that change to
offline. So first please make sure the end users do not select the work
offline option.

If the issue still persists, please create a new profile for the
problematic users.

How to create new Outlook profile
======================
1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2. Click Switch to Classic View, and then click the Mail icon.

3. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click the Show Profiles button.

4. On the General tab, click to select the "Prompt for a profile to be
used" check
box and then click Add.

5. In the Profile Name box, type a descriptive name for the new profile,
and then
click OK.

6. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click "Add a new e-mail account", and
then
click Next.

7. Select the appropriate server type for your new e-mail account, and then
click
Next.

8. Fill in the appropriate information as prompted, and then click "Next
and
Finish" as needed.

9. Click OK. Restart Outlook, then select the new profile when the "Choose
Profile"
dialog prompts and click OK.

free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

| We run all of our Outlook clients in cached mode. If our Exchange is
down
| for any reason, Outlook goes from 'Connected' to 'Offline'. When Echange
| comes back up, most of our clients will go back to 'Connected'
automatically.
| However, some clients will stay 'offline' until you manually uncheck
'Work
| Offline'. It is random, it is not the same clients every time. Most of
my
| users do not realize they are 'Offline' and call wondering why they are
not
| receiving e-mails. Why would some clients not reconnect automatically?

| Thanks,
