RE: Inbound Faxing on Shared fax service not working

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Chace,
I placed those registry changes into the registry and re-started the fax
service.

I then had a fax-back system fax my server. I saw the fax come into the
incoming queue, with its TSID and other information, however, after about a
minute the status changed from receiving to "not a fax call".

So it seems that the fax peer hung up?

I then searched my C drive for the t30debuglogfile.txt file and could not
find the file anywhere. I also looked at the path and was missing the
subdirectory Network service.

Please advise.

Hi,

Thank you for posting here.

From your problem description, I understand this issue to be: you could not
receive multipleincoming fax and the fax service will not function
correctly.

Based on my experience, this issue always cause by the following facts:

- Phone line signal jam.
- Hardware driver not up-to-date.

At this point, I recommend you to check:

1. Make sure that the fax line is clean, it should be a dedicated line for
faxing without other functions (such as DSL or another fax machine).
2 Contact the hardware vendor to make sure that the modem is using the
latest driver.
Note that the driver must be signed by Windows Server 2003.

Info 2. T30 log.

1. Run Regedit.exe
2. Navigate to the logging option, controlled by the registry key under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax\Device
Providers\{2172FD8F-11F6-11D3-90BF-006094EB630B}
3. Create or modify new valies as follows:

DeBugLevelEx
(REG_DWORD)
0 - No log. This is the default selection.
0xffffffff - Enable T30 debug logging

DebugContextEx
(REG_DWORD)
0 - No messages
3 - Main and class 1 messages only. This is the default selection.
0xffffffff - All messages (including fcom module)

In order for DebugContextEx to take effect, it's also necessary to set
DeBugFormatEx (REG_DWORD) to 0xbbffffff.

DeBugFormatEx
(REG_DWORD)
0xbbffffff

4. Restart the Fax service and reproduce the problem. Then send
T30DebugLogFile.txt to me
(v-chacez@xxxxxxxxxxxxx), which is located at Documents and
Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\temp (Network Service's temportary
directory).

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your update

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)
