One really annoying problem for users is Outlook going off line on
them (I've even been bitten by it).
If I reboot the server during the day (I try not too, but sometimes
I'm on a call with support for that DAMN ExaByte junk I bought) and
have to reboot.
Anyone that is fiddling with Email, puts them off-line. And when the
server comes backup they don't receive mail automatically, and can't
send manually.
Is there a group policy or something I can set to just prevent OutLook
from going off line?
Even users that know how to put it back, forget they are off line and
don't see mail for a day and ask me why they are not getting email.
Every time it's because the day before I rebooted the server and their
email is off line (Work Offline).
If all those users are working on clients that are directly connected to the
Lan I see no reason why you would use offline folders in Outlook. Yes, if
you install the Office 2003 adm files on your server you can create a policy
that prevents Outlook to use offline folders. If you then boot the server
when somebody has Outlook open it will bug you with a message it cannot find
the Exchange server but it will not go offline.
