hmmm, curious, I don't think I've ever got a USB printer working, but
thinking of it the only one's I've tried are (from memory) also MFC's. and
of course I get wierd slant, only those people having problems bring it to
my attention, I probably have people out there using such :-)

I'm sorry, I'm going to be somewhat of a pain, not just to make a point.
RWW is a set of http pages. When accessing these page a user will
experience 'normal' IE problems when printing (you know, when what you
see in IE is not what you get on the printout).
There are a couple of specific functions in RWW that I believe you may
be referring to, the abilities to 'Connect to my computer at work' or
'Connect to my company's applications sharing server'. When using these
functions the default condition is to 'Allow documents on the remote
computer to be printed locally'. For this to be possible the driver for
the printer must be installed on the remote system, this is _mostly_
done automagically but there are circumstances where this will not
happen.
IME:
If the 'local printer' is USB connected, YOU'RE STUFFED, it won't work.
If the connecting user is not able to install a printer driver on the
remote system, YOU'RE STUFFED, it won't work. The administrator of the
system can fix this though, by installing the driver for the user.
If you are impatient, YOU'RE STUFFED, it won't work. Well, actually, if
you waited it would work, the driver would be uploaded to the remote
system, installed, and available for use. Some people try to print a doc
before allowing this to happen.
If it's an MFC device YOU ARE PROBABLY (but not necessarily) STUFFED.
Drivers for MFC devices also add software to the PC. Depends on the MFC
device.
ANYONE connecting with a HP LaserJet 4 compatible device will have no
problem.

Hi All,
We are looking at moving from VPN / RDP to RWW for our remote users who
connect and work from home.
Under VPN / RDP one area that we have always had some issues with is
printing at the user's home to their local printer.
Does anyone know whether this is easier, harder, impossible (?) using
RWW compared to VPN / RDP?
Thanks,
Alan.

Hi SuperGumby,
Thanks for your quick response.
I am specifically thinking about when the user is connected to the
Terminal Server (they will rarely connect to a workstation if ever), and
are using a LoB application.
If I have understood correctly, RWW offers a secure frontend to establish
an RDP session on the remote resource (Terminal Server in our case). Is
that correct? You implied that everything is done within a web browser
interface - have I misunderstood?
To clarify, for example, if the user has, say, Outlook and Windows
Explorer open in their TS session, and wants to drag and drop an Outlook
item to a network drive (file an MSG item for example) can they still
right click, drag the item to the task bar, hover over windows explorer,
wait for it to come to the top, and drop the item in a folder, selecting
either Copy or Move (or cancel) as they require. This is what they can
currently do using VPN / RDP, but I am wondering if the browser interface
will actually allow a fully functional interaction for the user after
all?
Thanks,
Alan.
