Re: Backup errors using Small Business Backup

I have had the same problem. SBS NTBackup runs with out a problem for months
then fails at GetTapeMediaPoolName failed. (0x800710d8). This happened two
nights in a row. The second night I launched the back up manually and it ran
with out a problem. I think this happened once before and I took the
suggestion of running the tape cleaner. Logically I can not see how this
would be the solution to the problem considering that backup will
successfully run when you launch it manually. I do not believe it is a
scheduler issue because the job starts. Any suggestions??

It has worked in the past when using the NTBackup. It almost always works.
when running this batch file manually
[batch file]
REM - Set path to backup job
SET loc="@C:\Documents and Settings\bit\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\Daily Backup.bks"
cd c:\windows\system32
ntbackup backup %loc% /d "Daily Backup" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal
/j "Daily Backup" /l:s /p "4mm DDS" /um
exit
[/batch]
However when we set it up to run at night through the Task sched, it
generates blank reports.
It has never actually worked for the Small Business backup. It fails if I
do it manually or set it to run at night. We have NTBackup setup on many
Windows XP machine and a few Windows 2003 servers, all of them work fine.
This is the only server we are having issues with.

what type of tape device are you using?
The SBS Backup is the same thing as the NTBackup, just a different front end
wizard -- so if NTBackup failed, I would epect SBS Backup to fail also.
Has this ever worked for you?
Have you tried to do a partial backup of some files to verify if it works at
all?

I had posted an issue with NTBackup on Monday, where I was told I should
try
the Small Business backup, however it isnt working for me either.
I had given up trying to use NTBackup as it would only work when it wanted
to, and when it didnt work it wouldnt only generate a blank report.
I tried doing the small business backup, but it is giving me issues also.
Can someone please point me into a direction to see why this doesnt work.
Below is the error I receive when trying to run the backup manually.
