I have a new Macintosh which I am trying to configure Entourage 2004 to a
Small business Server 2003 SP1 running Exchange SP1.
Entourage on the Mac is fully patched.
The server is running IMAP4 and File services for the Macintosh.
While the Mac can use IMAP with your Exchange server, this isn't the
recommended method for connecting. Use IMAP if your Windows users are
doing so as well.
Otherwise, Entourage should connect to Exchange via WebDAV. This is the
protocol used when you set up your Entourage client using its built-in
Exchange capabilities. If you have Outlook Web Access (OWA) enabled on
your server then you already have WebDAV running. Your Entourage client
can connect as an Exchange client and won't have to connect as an IMAP
client. This will allow Entourage to also use the calendaring and public
folder features of Exchange.
File Services for Macintosh is irrelevant to Exchange email and Macs.
When I try to address a new email in the Entourage client and I navigate the
drop down list to Default Global Address List (Exchange), and try to search
on an entry in the GAL, I receive an error:
Unknown error (-17709), LDAP server error, Account: Exchange.
My current settings under the advanced tab of the Exchange account settings
are:
ldap server: FQDN of my SBS 2003 server
This server requires me to login is CHECKED.
Override current LDAP port is CHECKED and set to 3268 and search base is set
to: cn=users, dn=ttag, dc=int Our internal FQDN is ttag.int
From another post I see you've resolved your LDAP problem. Great! But I
see you're having certificate problems.
Have a look at this excellent article on theMacHelpDesk.com
<http://www.themachelpdesk.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=inde
x&catid=&topic=19>.
Furthermore, the Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft has
published several white papers and resource kits that may help you. Have
a look on Mactopia for these
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/resources/resources.aspx?pid=resourcekits>.
And finally, if you haven't already, try tackling your problem from the
other end of the newsgroups. You'll find other Microsoft groups devoted
to Macs and Microsoft products. Have a look at:
microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage
microsoft.public.mac.office
Hope this helps! bill
