Hi Merv
These are the following Services not starting:
MS Exchange IMAP4
Error 1083
The executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement this service.
MS Exchange POP3
Error 1083
The executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement this service.
MS Exchange Routing Engine

The executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement this service
MS Search
Error 2
The system cannot find the file specified.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
Error 3
The system cannot find the path specified.
There are a few others not started or disabled but I don't think they
have anything to do with the problem.
These are the following Application Errors in Event Viewer:
MSExchangeMU
Event ID: 1047
Metabase Update failed to properly initialize its context.
Type: ERROR
MSExchangeMU
Event ID: 1046
MetaBase Agent has determined that IIS is running in IIS 5 Isolation
mode. Exchange server requires that IIS 6 is using Worker Process
Isolation mode. Matabase Update agent will now change the IIS
configuration from IIS 5 Isolation mode to Worker Process Isolation
mode
Type: INFORMATION every minute.
POP3 Connector
Event ID: 1023
Downloading process for mailbox *********** was ended with one or more
errors.
Type: ERROR every 15 minutes for all mailboxes.
These are the following DNS Server Errors in Event Viewer:
DNS
Event ID: 4015
The DNS Server has encountered a critical error from the Active
Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly.
Type: ERROR dated 23 Aug 2006
The System errors in the Event Viewer are all related to the failed
start of services mentioned above.
I noticed that the server is now listed in the Server Management
console under IIS, although the status is blank but still no Companyweb
or email.
Also, if you click on Backups in the Server Management console, the
initial page shows the "Page cannot display" sign where you should see
the status of the backup.
I have also copied the .edb and .stm files to a safe place as Lanwench
suggested.
Stephen
