RE: Email problem

Hi,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand this issue is internal message
become Garbled. If I have misunderstood you, please let me know.

In order to get a clear picture on this issue, please let me know the
following question.

Does this issue occur on all clients?

Does this issue also occur when sending mail via OWA?

If you send these emails to internal recipients in To file, what is the
result?

Does this issue appear persistent or randomly?

What the version of your outlook client?

Based on my research, this problem can be caused by several factors. We
need to perform some steps to narrow down this issue. Please try the
following methods and update me with each result:

Step #1:
-----------------------
Disable or remove Anti-Virus

If there is any anti-virus program such as Norton or Mcafee or the email
monitor program running in your computer, please temporarily disable it and
test the issue again. Please disable any anti-virus program when you
perform the following steps.

Note: Please make sure that there is no file lever Anti-virus is turning on
in the background.

Step #2:
---------------------
Create a new profile

Please refer to the following article to recreate a new profile:

829918 How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829918

Step #3:
--------------------------------
Disable Word as the e-mail editor

To determine this problem is due to the Word editor, let's first disable it
and test if the problem ceases:

1. Start Outlook and choose Tools --> Options... in the menu.

2. On the Mail Format tab, clear the "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail
messages" checkbox and the "Use Microsoft Word to read Rich Text e-mail
messages" checkbox.

3. Click OK.

4. If the problem remains, please repeat the Steps 1 and change the message
format to see if the problem is related to a specific format. Select
different
entries each time in the "Compose in this message format:" dropdown box
(HTML, Rich
Text and Plain Text).

Step #4:
--------------------------
Recreate the template files

1. Close all the programs and click Start --> Find --> Files or Folders...

2. Choose "My Computer" in the Look in box and select "Include subfolders".

3. Type the following file name in the Named box and click Find Now.

Normal.dot
Email.dot

Generally we can find these files in the following locations:

<drive>:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
<drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033

4. Rename them to .old files or delete them.

5. Start Outlook (these files will be recreated automatically) and test the
issue again.

Step #5:
----------------
If the user is using stationary, let's clear it temporarily.

1. Start Outlook and choose Tools --> Options... in the menu.

2. On the Mail Format tab, select HTML in the format dropdown box.

3. Select "<None>" in the "Use this stationery by default:" dropdown box.

4. Click OK.

Step 6
--------------
Please perform the following steps to clean views and open Outlook in Safe
Mode to isolate the influence of additional Add-ins.

1. Click Start, and click Run.
2. Type "Outlook /cleanviews /safe" in the text box, and click OK.

What is the result?

Step 7
-----------------
Please obtain the last update for outlook client

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions on this issue, please do
not hesitate to let me know.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)
