I just went to my backup tape and it was not backing up the C: partition...
Methinks I'm screwed. I finally got a hold of the company from whom we
purchased our licenses and they are looking into it.
Is there any way to call Microsoft and get them to reissue the licenses?
Or, is there a site for licensing I can go to in order to look them up? I
remember something like this at the last palce I worked at - I used to do
all
this stuff before this current job - now I'm in finance and have been
forgetting what I used to do as a network guy...

AFAIK (but haven't tried it), the files you need to restore are:
C:\windows\system32
autolicstr.cpa
licstr.cpa
liccpa.cpl
C:\windows\system32\lls
llsUser.LLS
Then make sure your antivirus product on the server isn't scanning any
files
with extensions:
..cpa
..cpl
..lls
After they've been restored, back up your CALs using: Server Management

I have the exact same problem. Our server was installed by a third
party
before I was even here. I have record that we purchased 40 CAL's from
their
quote and our PO, but I cannot find record of what the license codes
were.
I
too have a good backup (minus System State I just found out), but have
no
idea what I would need to restore to get the CAL license purchase
history
back. Apparently that is in the cpl.cfg file, but I doubt it is that
easy
and didn't want to overwrite that file and cause myself more problems.
Or, is there any way to call Microsoft to look up our licenses? I have
a
call into the third party installer (legit company who assigned someone
who
was not qualified to be installing this) and they have not found their
records of what our codes were.
Is there any way to do this from a backup or have Microsoft look up our
registered codes? Funny how MS always asks you to register their
products
(and probably ID your hardware as well), but you can't ever look up
that
info
if you need it.......

Disk space issue has been taken care of. There are no error's in
event
viewer. Only every 5 seconds on the screen you recieve out of
license
messages. When I look there are no license installed. The 25 are
missing.
They are looking for the cals for me. I did not know if the license
is
stored
in a file I can restore?

I would first take care of my disk space issues on C drive then
reapply
the
additional 25 licenses. Do you not see the licenses in the License

Console? What are the errors generated in the Event Viewer?.

are
missing. They are looking of the cal license but can not find
yet..
Is
there a

Thanks..
