they need to be on separate subnets
whether you separate them as distinctly as you did (which I like and its easy to tell which is which)
OR
You could do, 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.2.2 and those are separate subnets, but its more likely to confuse which is which

Hello...
I should know this but can't remember, and for some reason can't access the
smallbizserver.net site for a schematic. Anyways... When setting up my server
with dual nic's do the internal and external nic'c need to be completely
different i.e. internal using 192.168.1.X and external using 10.1.1.X? If
they aren't different then the networks wouldn't truly be separate. Guess I'm
answering my own question.
As it is now the internal network is using 192.168 and the Internet router
gateway is 192.168.1.1. I'm thinking that when the time comes to get SBS
installed and on the net I'll neet to change the local IP for the router
gateway address to 10.1.1.X. I'll then use 192.168.1.X internally for my
client PC's and point the gateway to 10.1.1.X
Sounds logical. Any thoughts?
