Using SMTP

We've just installed Win 2003 small business server. Never set one up
before, but we're using the default config from Dell. I've installed an
asp.net web app we've developed and it is running fine, except for the smtp
part. In some cases the web app sends email notifications via smtp. How do
we configure smtp on this OS? We've installed the SMTP components through
add/remove programs, but we still can't see any SMTP related items in IIS
management console. The app doesn't generate any errors when it tries to
send out email, but I don't receive the emails either.
