I think one should first answer the original question suggesting a
"better" way. :)

That's the beauty of a public newsgroup - we are each free to volunteer
our time in the way we prefer. :)

Symantec = The New Computer Associates <tm> Their support and
documentation are dreadful, and nevermore shall they get a dime from
me....until they demonstrate that they don't plan to drag perfectly
fine Veritas products down into the muck along with everything else.

Amen, brudda.

That's *sistah* to you!

Hi Kevin,
I think Abdul asked a fairly straightforward question and then the
replies led him down a garden path of technicality he probably
doesn't doesn't need (his comment 'I'm not an IT expert' was a
giveaway).

I'm sure that RDP is functionally very rich but sometimes
using what you know already is easier.

Sure, but not always better :-)

As far as PCA is concerned - nope, I don't know why I have to supply
the username and password 6 times before it eventually 'sticks' and
I can access the host. Obviously an undocumented feature.

Arthur, for a minute, let's presume I have an open mind towards PC
Anywhere .... ;-)

I would be interested to hear what functionality and features PCA
v12 has that you really like and think are superior to RDP. I
really would like to know! PCA gets a lot of bashing, so if
someone wants to step up to the plate and say it's great/good/OK
... I'm listening. --

Hi Abdul,
If you have PCAnywhere version 12 it's a piece of cake. Install
the Host program on the server and the client wherever you like -
even outside of your
domain.

It is really easy - no hassle. Don't go trying another product and
don't use
the microsoft tools - they won't give you the same functionality.

Good luck
Arthur
