Re: My Documents Redirection with Laptop using WiFi

I would work on getting the your wireless card to connect to the network
first and then make your settings to access your MyDocument folder offline.
If your using DHCP your machine may not be getting an address assigned or if
as you say it seems to hang it ends up getting an address that is not in the
same range as your server so you have no network access. There have been
times when I have had to assign one manually to a wireless card to get it
connected and then switch over to DHCP and things seem to work fine after
that. If you are starting out trying to connect with all of the encryption
(WPA/WEP) and such turned on you may try getting connected to your AP
without that first then begin to secure things one at-a-time (such as
turning off SSID Broadcast then enable WPA/WEP). And double check all of the
settings between the AP and the card to make sure the encryption keys and
SSID settings match!

Hello, We enabled My Documents redirection on the network, and the
wired computers work fine with it, but the laptops connecting over WiFi
fail to boot. They simply hang in the Applying Settings stage.

When we wire those same laptops into the network, they will boot fine,
but then if we shut down, and try to reboot again on the wireless, we
get the same problem.

I'm assuming this is because the WiFi connection is not connected yet
in the boot process when the laptop is looking for the My Documents
folder.
How can we get around this, or how can we accomplish what we are trying
to do?

The end goal is to have the two users in our office that use both a
laptop and a desktop have their documents available on either computer.
Should we use My Documents redirection, Roaming Profiles, or something
else to accomplish this?
Also, the laptops are used off the network, so they would need offline
access to the files.

Thanks!

Chester
