Do you back up to tape? Usually old catlogs are automatically deleted when
the tape they are on is overwritten and a new catalog is created.
I'm pretty sure that If you have V01 files dated older than the date of the
oldest backup in your media pool, then it's safe to delete them.
Cheers,

Hi Guys,
I have an SBS 2003 server that is running low on disk space on the system
partition.
Using DIRUSE I have located the following folder which contains over 1.2
GB
of files ;
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
NT\NTBackup\catalogs51
The files all have the extension V01 and are clearly created by the NT
backup which runs each night and has been configured using the Backup
Wizard
available in the Server Management MMC.
I have 2 questions of which I would be glad of an answer ;
1) Can I nmodify some registry entry so that these files are created and
stored on a different partition?
2) If not can I safely delete the older ones without risking the integrity
of my backups?
Your assistance is much appreciated,
Tim
.
