Re: SBS 2003 Standard IIS Issue

Hello Northwest,

What application is it you are trying to run? If you add network to the directory where the application is running that should help with this part of the problem.
May also need to add IUSER and I?? (Whatever the otherone is??)

Is this Dot Net Nuke or Community Server that you are trying to setup or another
application that is failing the intial setup?

The other part of this would be to do pass through with basic firewall to an external IP address. I personally would be somewhat uncomfortable hosting
a .Net application publicly on an SBS 2003 standard box and would prefer SBS
Premium for this. But again this depends on the application.

Can anyone tell me what the following message is all about? I am
trying to set up a web site that is on another of my internal systems.
I can get it to work using an internal IP address, but this will not
work publicly. This is the error that is generated when I set the pat
for the internal system in IIS:

Server Error in '/' Application.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
Access to the path
"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files\root\928ef48f\fec0b679" is denied. Description: An unhandled
exception occurred during the execution of the current web request.
Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and
where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the
path "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files\root\928ef48f\fec0b679" is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider
granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request
identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically
{MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if
the application is not impersonating. If the application is
impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be
the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated
request user.

To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in
Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add"
to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account,
and check the boxes for the desired access.
