Susan, let me explain the issue of the domain name in a different way:
You have an external web site with a domain name of krill.com - correct?
Your consultant wants you to assign the domain name krill.com to your
internal server - correct again?
So let's say you are inside your local network and say "Where are you
krill.com?" -- who do you think will answer?
You have two servers each responding to the name krill.com.
The solution, which your 'consultant' is apparently not aware of, is that
SBS and Exhange very nicely handles this situation.
Leave your external web site with the domain name krill.com alone. Assign a
name (such as krill.local or krill.wan) to your SBS server. Set up your MX
record so that mail from krill.com is pointed to your public IP address for
your SBS server.
Now comes the magical part!
Within SBS, all the users you set up will be assigned an "internal" email
address of something like susan@xxxxxxxxxxxx Each user will also be assigned
a "public" email address as well (susan@xxxxxxxxx).
When you are sending an email to the person in the nextoffice at work,
Exchange will imediately deliver this email vica the .local address. IT
never has to go outside and then back in.
However, when someone from theoutside sends an email to susan@xxxxxxxxx --
the MX record on your web site says, 'Oh, I need to forward this to
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (your SBs serve). SBS receives it, Exchange looks at it and
says "Oh, this is for suan@xxxxxxxxxx I know where to find her. Her local
(inside address) is susan@xxxxxxxxxxx ."
Trust us. It work!!!

Existing Domain Controller being replaced with a new server. Would like
to
change the name of the internal domain to match their web domain name.
Does
anyone know where I can find precise documentation on the best way to
incorporate the new server (with new internal domain name) into the
existing
domain and transfer Exchange Mailboxes, user settings, etc? It almost
seems
easier than demoting and promoting the pdc. I am afraid I am missing
something in the translation of the articles I have found. I just want to
make sure this is really the way I want to go.

Thank you for your assistance,
Susan
