RE: Back-up error 5634 - Need help eliminating directory

Hi,

Thank you for posting back.

After you excluded badmail folder in Trend, can your backup your server
smoothly?

If not , I suggest that we change the Badmail to another location and
delete the original Badmail older:

1. In Windows Explorer, locate the C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\Vsi 1
folder.
2. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.
3. Type BadMail2 for the name of the new folder.
4. Click Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft Exchange -> System Manager.
5. Expand Servers -> <your server name> -> Protocols -> SMTP.
6. Right-click Default SMTP Virtual Server -> Properties.
7. Click the Messages tab.
8. In the Badmail directory box, change the name of the BadMail folder to
BadMail2, and then click OK.
9. Permanently delete the original BadMail folder. To do this, click the
BadMail folder in Windows Explorer, hold down the SHIFT key and press
DELETE.
10. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion. Deleting this
folder may take a long time, depending on the number of files in this
folder.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any further questions, feel free to let me know. I'm happy to
be of assistance and looking forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)

| Thank you for the reply. I did as Kevin and you suggested by clearing the
| badmail folder.
|
| I excluded the badmail folder in the TrendMicro product.
|
| Microsoft Back-up wizard will not let me exclude the badmail folder. It
| states that the folder is a system folder and is used for other programs.
|
| Is there another way to exclude this folder?
|
| Thanks,
| Greg
