RE: Exchange System Manager 2003 crashes

Hi Chance,
Thanks for that detailed description. I just wanted to know one more
question before I try it. The file sizes for the Exadmin.dll in the
installation media and what is installed in the exchange/bin directory are
different. So if I replace the file would that affect any settings on the
exchange server ?? I just want to make sure because i have alot of users
connected to it in my company so I do not want anything to go wrong .. Sorry
to bother you so much .. but hope you understand my situation ..

Thanks & Regards,
Joel Minezes

Hi Joel,

Thanks for your update.

Based on the current situation, I suggest you manaully reinstall the ESM
since the issue can occur if it was corrupted. The Exchange MMC components
depend upon the Exadmin.dll file that is located in the
<X>:\Setup\I386\Exchange\Bin folder, where <X> is the location of the
Exchange 2003 installation media.

To install or replace this DLL:

1. Stop all Exchange Server services:

a. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and then click "Control Panel".

b. Double-click "Administrative Tools", and then double-click "Services".

c. Click each Exchange Server service, click "Action", and then click
"Stop".

d. Close the "Services" windows.

Note You must restart the Exchange Server services after you install or
remove the DLL.

2. Copy the Exadmin.dll from the Exchange Server installation media to
the Exchsrvr\Bin folder; overwrite the existing file if necessary. By
default, the Exchsrvr\Bin folder is located in C:\Program Files.

3. Run the following commands from a command prompt within the Bin folder
to unregister and re-register the DLL:

"regsvr32 /u exadmin.dll" (without the quotation marks)

The typical response to this command is:

DllUnregisterServer in exadmin.dll succeeded.

"regsvr32 exadmin.dll" (without the quotation marks)

For more information, please refer to the following article:

Hope this helps, if you have any other concern on this issue, please feel
free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

| Hi Nigel,
| I do not have outlook 2003 installed. I am getting the error at the
file
| exadmin.dll . Could I just copy this file and check if it works ?? Will
any
| settings change ?? If this does not work then I would try re-installing
ESM.
