Re: Domain Admins not allowed - ActiveSync via Mobile device

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

Felt more comfortablöe posting here since some of the possibilities and
settings for Exchange/IIS under SBS may be different then the standard Server.
Example is many docs in KB advising to set Exchange as FrontEnd/Backend etc.
Actually, for many docs in KB advising some settings, there seems to be
another doc advising others.

Have resolved the acess as DomAdmin issue - after a delete and re-create of
the Exchange account for the user. (Some of the occounts here go back to way
back when).

What we have now is this :
Using Mobile device and ActiveSync 4.2 on a pc in our network but with
server IP set to our external IP (correct ports per MS KB are open on
firewall/router).
Everything works fine. Full synch, no errors reported in server log.
(TCPIPView shows connection going via 443 https - cert is ok on Server and
Mob device).

Using Mobile device via mobile connection - all is synched fine but - 2 x
errors are written to the server logs.
Both are source - Server ActiveSync, ID 3005, Unexpected Exchange
HTTP-Statuscode: [400] Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working
correctly.

From the timings it looks like 1 error is generated at connection, the other
at end connection.

I can check the Mobile device logs later today - would appreciate any tips.

Ken

Hi,

am battling with ActiveSync on SBS2003 (Exchange SP2 for 2003 is
intstalled). Still some tuning to do but have got the basis working
(and was not fun).

Have noticed that members of Domain Admin group can NOT syncronise
either when mobile device is connected via USB OR when synched via
mobile connection.

Even tried this with a test user, all was fine until user was put
into Dom Admin group and sever source was re-biult on mobile. After
that, no access.

Any ideas?

What would be great is if ActiveSync could be set to allow Dom Admins
to sync.

I have used an acct in the Domain Admins group to sync with no probs
whatsoever. So, I'm not sure what's going on, but it isn't a group
membership issue alone. What errors do you get? You may want to post in a
pocketpc or activesync group with more detail.
