Do you SBS server encounter any performance issue? If not, you can safely
disable the alerts. And also please check if you have applied the
following
hotfixes. If not, I suggest that you try to apply it and then enable the
alerts to see if the issue resolved.

I increased both counters way above the average but I still kept getting
the
error. I've now just disabled the alert.

Ok, I will wait for your test result. In fact, the memory alert issue is
the Exchange 2003 sp1 server and SBS 2003 server integrated issue. So it
has not been fixed in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2. The issue has
been fixed in SBS 2003 R2. Thank you for your understanding.

I have removed the 3GB switch and will check the counters as you
indicate.

I thought this issue had been fixed in Exchange SP2 and I'm running SP2
(not
SP1).

From your description, I understand the issue is that you received

every day. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

As the Steve said, we do not recommend setting the /3GB switch when
you
run
Exchange Server 2003 in a Small Business Server environment. This
also
is
addressed in the following KB article:

However, the other concepts and settings that are described in this
article
apply equally to Exchange Server 2003 in a SBS environment. I suggest
that
you check it for more information to optimize memory usage.

Based on my knowledge, the allocating more memory than usual alert
issue
occurs because virtual memory is allocated differently in Exchange
2003
SP1
than in the original release version of Exchange 2003. This does not
mean
that the Store.exe process uses additional memory. The memory is just
reported differently in Exchange 2003 SP1.

To resolve this issue, modify your performance monitoring program to
increase the private bytes memory threshold for the Store.exe
process.
To
do so:

1. Click Start, and then click Server Management.

2. Expand Standard Management, and then click Monitoring and
Reporting.

3. Click Change Alert Notifications, and then click the Performance
Counters tab in the Alert Notifications dialog box that appears.

4. In the Name list, click store.exe private bytes STORE, and then
click
Edit.

5. In the Change threshold to box, type a new threshold value that is
greater than the current value and that does not trigger a Small
Business
Server 2003 critical alert.

6. Click OK two times.

Since increasing the RAM from 1GB to 4GB in my SBS2003 SP1
