Thanks for the credit. I hope he gets it fixed which is more important.
As for the fix, yes, nothing from microsoft yet. However, I had 2 SBS
servers and one Exchange enterprise server where the same thing was
happening. I stopped IIS and installed. All 3 servers are ok now. I have
since disabled automatic reboot of these machines. I'm contemplating setting
it to just notify of updates and not even download, forget about reboot.
Can't afford to have this happen again. Had to go onsite to get access. Ugh.

It is apparently a wide spread issue with many but not all IIS servers.
There are a couple of suggested work-a-rounds, but nothing official posted
by MS that I've found.
Are you using WSUS or just configured the server to get updates from
Microsoft Update and Install them automatically?
(...and I think the KB posting credit belongs to "SBC")

OOps never mind, I see KJ included it, KB917537, also I have update set
to
install at exactly.....3am?!?!?!
-- I was baffled because this does not happen on the other SBS boxes I
have
up around the state. Although the history of them is different, IE
installation period, act.
Again I really appreciat the help. I will post a follow up to confirm
that
this fixed it.

AHA! That does make some sense. I did see a report about some failed
update
at one point. You guys are great. Does anyone have the KB # for this
update?

Likely spot on the Microsoft Upddate. The DSAccess error is very

Sounds to me like automatic updates are trying to install. KB917537
is an
IIS update that on most systems will not install until you manually
stop
IIS admin and then install it. So if your system is set to
automatically
install then reboot, this will happen every night due to the failure
of
the above update.
So the thing to do is do a manual Microsoft Update today after
stopping
IIS first. Or uncheck install updates / reboot until you can do it
manually.
That should do it. Why the DSAccess error, i'm not sure other than
to say
the system is not shutting down or restarting properly or there is a
domain controller that the server can't contact because the same
thing is
happening to that one too.

I am running SBS 2003, with SP1
The daily report says the system has restarted and always at the
same
time
and always the sme error:
MSExchangeDSAccess 2102 7/12/2006 3:04 AM 1
Process MAD.EXE (PID=3128). All Domain Controller Servers in use
are not
responding: hansenhousesbs.CandDHServices.local For more
information,
click
http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
MSExchangeDSAccess 2104 7/12/2006 3:04 AM 1
Process STORE.EXE (PID=2296). All the DS Servers in domain are not
responding. For more information, click
http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
Other than these restarts the system works great. I have looked
these
errors
up on MS site and they are not descriptive, or refer to Exchange
2000.
Please assist. I don't want this to continue or worsen. THis is a
fresh
install, been up for almost two months. This behavior just started
last
week.
No changes have been made.
