Yes, that's certainly true. E-mail has the perception of immediacy but not the reality of it.All that jumping up and down with a "real" fax machine is good for your health. Sitting at the computer too long doesn't get you any exercise ;)
Anyway, the major advantage of the POP3 Connector is that it lets your mail hosting service be the first line of defense against spam, malware, and direct attacks on your SMTP server. For a small business who can't afford 24/7 monitoring and full time administrators, this can be well worth it. This being said, you can still do that going through a third party email service that will provide security and redundancy, but then forwards directly to the Exchange server without the POP3 issues. But in the end everything is a trade-off.
