Brice,

When you say that you want SharePoint on the second server, keep in mind
that you cannot legally separate the pieces of SBS without using the
Transition Pack. In other words, all the pieces of SBS must reside on the
SBS server itself. You could buy a separate SharePoint and run it on the
2003.

Jamie thats a great solution and yeah i can get them all to vpn in and
that way check their passwords. See i just have to do the programming
and it work and security stuff.. those bosses always get in the way.

You may wish to bone up on ISA server to protect the web hosting in
house. I
too, am trying to set up the web host internally (because I can - it is
my
business and I'm about as stubborn as they come) but I see I have a steep
learning curve for ISA. If you already have a different firewall
solution,
you may want to use it (assume it is linux or something reasonable) to
check
passwords coming in and then create user accounts internally that IIS can
verify and pass on as authenticated to the SQL Server which should remain
in
authenticated mode again, if possible. This works in theory but is tough
to
manage logistically. Hope it helps. If everyone can authenticate
through a
VPN your problem is solved. You don't need to configure the rest, just
let
them in on VPN.

Hey Mark;

Thanks for the input. I actually agree about the whole inhouse hosting
but i just work for the business and the vp is set on this. So ive got
to get it up and running in house. And i know sharepoint can run on
the domain server i just need it on its own isolated server for speed.
The domain server is running alot of exchange clients and gfi so its
slowing down my sharepoint. And because the business is nation wide i
need the sharepoint to run as a faster set.
