Hi Jenny,

I gave up and called Partner Support this weekend and after 8 hours with a
couple of the techs, we tracked it down to rogue FrontPage web that was
conflicting with the ports on the default web. We still canâ??t explain
why
only OMA and ActiveSync were the only services affected by this issue.
But
at least it is resolved.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for your update.

Yes, you are right. The Default domain should be the NETBIOS name on
Microsoft-Server-Activesync VD and exchange-oma VD. I thought that the
"trustattorney" is the NETBIOS name of the exchange. I am sorry for that
incorrect information.

I. Let us check the following setting now:

1. Open the IIS manager and navigate the node Web sites -> Default Web
site, right click it to open its properties page, under Web site tab,
what
is configured in IP address field? The IP address should be set as
follows:

-- IP address: "All Unassigned" (if there is not ISA installed. If the
ISA
server is installed, the "IP address" should set as "internalIP of the
SBS
server box").

If it is set incorrect, please verifying it.

2. Please right click exchange-oma VD to open its properties page, under
Directory Security tab, click Edit button in Authentication and access
control region to change the Default domain to "\" for test aim.

3. And also please click Edit button in IP address and domain name
restrictions to verify the option "Granted access" is checked to ensure
all
computers can access the site.

4. Then please run command "iisreset" (no quotation marks) to take
effects
the changes.

5. Still on server box, open IE to input URL:
https:\\localhost\exchange-oma, what is the result? When you input user
name and password, can you access the mailbox? If not, please capture a
screen shot of the error message.

If the https:\\localhost\exchange-oma does not work, it indicates that
the
VD is corrupt. I suggest that you delete the current exchange-oma VD and
re-create an exchange-oma VD in the IIS manager and then test the issue
and
let me know the result.

II. Please check the domain name configured on OMA in ESM. The steps:

Open Exchange System Manager, navigate to the node Administrative Groups
->
first administrative group -> Servers -> Protocols -> HTTP -> Exchange
virtual server, and right click OMA item to open its Properties page,
under
general tab, what is the domain name?

I appreciate your time to perform test.

Have a nice weekend!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Hi Jenny,

I confirmed the OMA/Sync Folder setup and made the changes to the
Default
domain options with no improvement to the situation.

But I am not sure why the default domain should be trustattorney. The
SBS
domain is RV.local with a NETBIOS domain of RV. Shouldn't the
authentication
default to the SBS domain?

Either way it did not seem to make any difference in the problem.

What is different between the authentication process / target for the
OPTIONS request for a user and the following POST for the mailbox data
for
the same user? With the options succeeding and the mailbox data
failing
this
might help narrow down the issue?

Any further ideas, would be appreciated?

thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy,

Thanks for your update.

After reviewed the IIS metabase, I found some settings configured
improperly. Let us perform the following steps to see if it helps.

I. Please re-run CEICE wizard (configure e-mail and internet
connection
wizard -> Connect to the internet) to refresh the SBS internet
settings.
You can refer to the following KB article to configure the network
connection:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business
Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

II. Then please open the IIS manager and navigate the node Web sites
->
Default Web site to verify settings as follows:

1. Right click the Microsoft-Server-Activesync VD to open its
properties
page, under Virtual Directory tab, please ensure the Local path is
mapping
to the path: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\OMA\Sync. And also please
ensure
all
files under folder C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\OMA\Sync exist.

2. Under Directory Security tab, click Edit button in Authentication
and
access control region to ensure the Default domain is configured
correct.
It should be "trustattorney".

3. Right click the exchange-oma VD to open its properties page, under
Directory Security tab, click Edit button in Authentication and
access
control region to ensure the Default domain is configured correct. It
should be "trustattorney".

4. Run command "iisreset" (no quotation marks) to take effect
changes.
Then
please test to see if the issue resolved.

I appreciate your time. I am happy to be further assistance to you.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Hi Jenny,

I tried the steps in your latest post to no avail, so here are the
data
and
log files that you request.

Yes, OWA is working fine. It is just OMA and ActiveSync that are no
longer
working.

I have emailed you the data and log files as requested.

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

For current situation, let us check the following settings:

1. Go to Start/Administrative Tools/Internet Information Services
(IIS)
Manager.
2. Navigate to node Web Sites -> Default Web Site -> exchange-oma,
right
click it to open its Properties page.

3. Under Virtual Directory tab, please double confirm the content
of
the
Local Path box is the same with the content of the Local Path box
on
the
Exchange virtual directory.

The local path content like this:
<\\.\backofficestorage\primaryemaildomainname.com\mbx> (should be
able
to
copy/paste it from the Properties of the Exchange virtual
directory)

4. Then please run command "iisreset" (no quotation mark) from a
command
prompt to refresh the IIS server.

5. Restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service.
