Here's my understanding about this, and I could be wrong. If you want the
most reliable information, I recommend calling Microsoft directly to address
this rather than going through a Dell sales rep who has likely never sold a
server out of the US and Canada.
I have an English-language XP desktop with a Mandarin Chinese language pack
installed. The user sees the same thing you see - all English - except that
he has the Chinese character set, dictionary, etc. available on this PC.
This lets him, for example, select Chinese from the Office Language Bar and
compose a document in Chinese. But he sees all English menus, Help, pop-up
dialog boxes, error messages, etc. - the whole OS is in English.
Unlike with the language pack, a localized Chinese version of XP would have
all Chinese menus, Help, etc. - the actual OS would be in Chinese.
So if you want an Italian-language OS, you need to buy the localized Italian
edition of SBS, not English SBS with an Italian language pack. A lot of
people in non-English speaking countries prefer the English server OSs,
presumably thinking it's easier to get support. Others need the OS in their
local language. I recommend getting the hardware from Dell, and get the
software from Open License - whether it's English or Italian.

Greetings.
I need to set up an SBS server for use in Italy.
Normally, I purchase my SBS licenses when I buy my servers from Dell.
Dell said that the SBS CDs include a "language pack" or something like
that
that will enable me to switch the language of the OS from English to, in
this
case, Italian. However, I have also heard that any MS product that is in a
specific language must be purchased and licensed in the region associated
with that language.
So...I need to know:
Can I easily switch the "language" of the SBS software from English to
Italian, at installation time, or do I need to make arrangements to
purchase
an Italian version of SBS through a reseller in Italy?
And, is there any truth to what Dell said about the "Language Pack"
included
on their distribution CDs?
I'm cool with whatever the results are. I just need to know how to
proceed.
Grazie & Go Azurri!!!!
