RE: CEICW-OMA errors

Hi, Jenny,

I won't be able to take down the server to do all of this until tomorrow.
I'll send you the results then.

Hi George,

Thanks for your update. I appreciate your time.

Have you tried to uninstall the Exchange server and then reinstall it and
apply the service packs as I suggested in my previous post?

After the exchange server has been reinstalled, please check if all the
Exchange related virtual directories shown under Default Web Site in IIS
manager.

1). Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
2). OMA
3). Exadmin
4). Exchange
5). Public
6). ExchWeb

If yes, please re-run CEICW wizard to configure network connection and mail
server.

If the issue still persists after that, please install and run filemon and
regmon, then reproduce the issue by running CEICW again to capture logs.

Please go to the following web sites to download and run Filemon and Regmon
tools.

Filemon for Windows
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml

Regmon for Windows
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml

It will be better for analysis to capture the Filemon and Regmon logs in
Safe Mode with Network. Please send the log files to me

And also please help me collect the following information for analyze:

1. Please send me all the logs from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Windows Small Business Server\Support folder to me.

2. Send all the logs from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows
Small Business Server 2003\Logs to my mailbox.

3. Send the icwdetails*.htm in the "%Program files%\Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server\Networking\ICW\" folder.

4. Please collect the IIS Metabase for analyze.

a. Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en
b. Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)
c. Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".
d. Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.
e. Send the file and the password to me.

5. Save me a text copy of application and system log for analyze.

To save a text copy of Application /System log:

A. Open Event Viewer: Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools ->
Event Viewer.
B. Right-click on Application/System log and select "Save Log File As?".

Please compress all files and mail them to my working mailbox:

Hi, Jenny,

Sorry, no luck.

I get exactly the same results after running your procedure. The only
anomaly was that the 5-digit number you mention in the step with the
Metabase
Explorer was a 6 digit number in my system. Everything else went exactly
as
described.

Still no OMA. I still have the exact same errors in CEICW.

Hi George,

From your description, I understand the issue is that the CEICW fails
during the email configuration process. If I have misunderstood the
problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

From the icwlog.txt file, I found the following main error message:

Error 0x80070003 returned from call to CEMailCommit::Commit().

Based on my research, the error code 0x80070003 means "The specified
path
couldn't be found". This issue always caused by improper Exchange
installation or a link broken between Exchange with IIS.

Currently, in order to troubleshoot this issue, I would like to suggest
that you first check in the IIS manager to see if there is a default web
site and also make sure that all the expected virtual directories for
OWA/OMA are listed there. The following Exchange related virtual
directories must be shown under Default Web Site in IIS manager.

1). Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
2). OMA
3). Exadmin
4). Exchange
5). Public
6). ExchWeb

If there is any VD disappeared, please refer to the steps below to
rebuild
the DS2MB:

First of all, please refer to the following Knowledge Base Article to
backup the Metabase first:
HOW TO: Create a Metabase Backup by Using IIS 6.0 in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324277

1. Go to Internet Services Manager and delete the following virtual
directories:
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync,
OMA,
Exchange,
Public,
ExchWeb.

2. Download and install Metabase Explorer from the following URL:

-B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en"

NOTE: This link can be wrapped. Please make sure that you have included
the
entire contents between the quotation marks when you download this tool.

3. Open Metabase Explorer and expand LM > DS2MB > HighWaterMarks > GUID

4. Double click the entry which has a 5-digit number in the data folder
in
the right pane of the GUID folder.
5. Replace the number in the Data field with 0 (zero) and then click
OK.
Close Metaedit
6. Run services.msc and right click IIS Admin Service, and then click
Restart to restart the service.

7. Restart the System Attendant. After that, these virtual directories
can
be created.

8. Then please re-run CEICW to see if the issue resolved.

Access

If it is not the case, to make sure it's not a link broken issue, I
would
like to suggest that you reinstall Exchange (with SBS 2003 SP1 already
applied) as the following steps:

Important: Please first make a full backup for the SBS 2003 Server.

Backing Up and Restoring Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49916

1. Switch to the SBS 2003 CD2, and then run "setup /reinstall".
2. Choose to 'Reinstall' against all the valid listed components in the
pop-up page, and then start the reinstallation.
3. Choose 'Yes' when prompting to overwrite the newer version files.
4. Once the installation is completed, please re-apply the Exchange 2003
SP1.
5. And then, reinstall the SBS 2003 SP1.
6. Rerun CEICW which will recreate the OMA and
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
directories.

If the issue still persists after that, please reproduce the issue by
running CEICW again and collect the following information.

1. Please send all the logs from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server\Support folder to me.

2. Send all the logs from C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows
Small Business Server 2003\Logs to my mailbox.

3. Send the icwdetails*.htm in the "%Program files%\Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server\Networking\ICW\" folder.

Please compress all files and send to my working mailbox:
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope above information helps. I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!
