Hi Andrew,
Thanks for posting here.
From your description, I understand that you want to install SQL server onthe SBS 2003 server box. If I am off base, please let me know.
For current situation, let us perform the following steps to install the
SQL server:
1. Please perform a clean boot on the server box. A Clean Boot will allow
us to isolate any device drivers or programs that are loading at startup
that may be causing a conflict with other device drivers or programs that
are installed in your computer.
1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer.
2. Then please insert the SQL installation CD into the CD-ROM, open the
installation cd, navigate the setup file and double click it to initialize
the installation.
What is the result?
If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information for
analyze:
1. Please run command "msinfo32" (no quotation marks) on the server box to
launch System Information console. And click File and then Save. Save the
system information to a .nfo file to send to me.
2. Please save the Application and System log files in .evt format and send
to my working mailbox:v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time. I am happy to be of assistance to you and look
forward to your reply.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu
